Estimated Out-of-Pocket Expenses:
To fully prepare for clinical practice, students should budget an additional $400 to $500 for our official equipment and supply list and required external certifications (e.g., Doppler, blood pressure cuff, stethoscope, the Phlebotomy, Venipuncture, and IV Technique course and training kit, CPR, and NRP certification).
Please note: Our official equipment and supply list and required third-party training links are provided exclusively within the student portal upon enrollment. Do not purchase these equipment and supplies prematurely, including the Phlebotomy, Venipuncture, and IV Technique course and training kit.
* Estimated costs for equipment and external certifications are subject to market rates and may vary by provider.
Flexible Financing via Buy Now, Pay Later (BNPL):
For those who prefer smaller installments while maintaining the Pay in Full rate, we offer third-party financing options at checkout. To access these installment options, please select the "Pay in Full" tuition choice at checkout.
Please note: Eligibility and financing terms are determined solely by the third-party provider.
An Investment in Our Legacy:
Your Path to a Self-Sustaining Career

Across the country, the demand for skilled birth assistants is rising. On average, a professionally trained Birth Assistant in the United States earns between $400–$600 per birth. This means your professional certification is a self-sustaining investment.
To put that into perspective:
-
For our online program, just 4-5 births typically covers your entire tuition.
-
For our hybrid program, you can see a full return on your investment in about 10-12 births.
Once you’ve crossed the bridge, your investment is more than a step forward in your career—it is a direct contribution to sustaining the legacy of community midwifery care. Because Black Sisters Birth Academy® emphasizes real-world clinical integration, the bridge to your career is already built before you even complete your curriculum.
Most students who complete their clinical roles under a midwifery preceptor frequently transition into a paid birth assistant role with that same practice upon certification. In this academy, you aren’t just learning theory; our curriculum is designed to position you for your future career at the bedside.
To further accelerate your professional reach, every Black Sisters Birth Academy® certified birth assistant is eligible to be included in our official birth assistant directory. This means that whether you are growing with your current preceptor or seeking new professional partnerships, community midwives can easily verify the clinical precision they expect and deserve.
Together, we will show and prove that BIRTH: It's What We DO.
