Professional Standing & Alumnae Policy

I. THE BIENNIAL RECERTIFICATION (Active Status)
To maintain your "Active" status in the National Birth Assistant Directory, all graduates must undergo formal recertification every two (2) years.

• The BSBA Clinical Refresh ($97): Includes updated Bloodborne Pathogens & OSHA (Module 5), HIPAA (Module 6), and Clinical Refresher Modules 13, 14, & 16 (The Birth Assistant’s Role During Labor & Birth, Immediate Postpartum, and Handling Obstetrical Emergencies).

• The Clinical Intensive ($1,500): 18-hour in-person validation waives all renewal fees.

 

II. RECORD RETENTION & DATA PRIVACY

Your clinical journey is documented with precision. However, to maintain the security and efficiency of our systems, the following limits apply:

• 5-Year Retention: BSBA maintains digital records of your program completion, certificates, and exam scores for five (5) years from your graduation date. After this window, records are scheduled for permanent deletion.

• Accessing Your Legacy:

  • Active Students: You have 30 days post-graduation to download your digital credentials at no cost.

  • Alumnae (Within 5 Years): Requests for certificate replacements or transcript verification are subject to a $15 USD Administrative Search Fee.

  • Post-5 Years: We do not guarantee record availability beyond the 5-year window. Please ensure you maintain personal backups of your professional credentials.

 

III. ENDORSEMENT & RECOMMENDATION ELIGIBILITY
Professional endorsements from Midwife Christina Jemine are a courtesy reserved for those whose clinical skills have been personally validated.

• Hybrid Graduates Only: Due to the necessity of evaluating clinical and interpersonal skills at the bedside, only students of the Hybrid/In-Person training are eligible for letters of recommendation or professional endorsements.

• The 3-Year Rule: To ensure our assessment remains current and relevant for hiring midwives, all requests for recommendations must be made within three (3) years of your graduation or in-person training date.

 

IV. INACTIVE STATUS & REMOVAL
Graduates who do not complete their biennial recertification will be moved to "Inactive Status."

• Directory Removal: Your profile will be removed from the public National Directory to protect the clinical integrity of our hiring partners.

• Reactivation: You may reactivate your status at any time within the 5-year record retention window by completing the $97 Clinical Refresh.
